The American Museum Of National History is one of the most largest museum in the world.The museum has 25 buildings which are interconnected and 46 permanent exhibition halls,also having research laboratories and its well known library.
The museum is located at 79th Street and Central Park , Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York, USA.
The museum has a collection of more than 3 million articrafts . The museum is opened everyday except 25 december , at regular timings starting from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm .The special spring timings are 10:00 am till 07:30 pm .
The museum has a section which is kept for the habitat groups of African, Asian and North American mammals, the Africe full-size of Blue Whale.It also comprises the sections apart fromit which are:
1) Halls of minerals and Gems
2) Halls of meteorites
3) Foossil Halls
4) The Human Biology and Evolution
5) art of Diorama: recreating nature
6) Rose Centre and planetarium
7) New York Time Capsule
The museum went under a renovation from September 5, 2006 to November 21,for this period the museum was closed, and renovation cost to upward about $85 million.during the renovation the changes that occurred are as follow:
• A new, five-story sky-lit atrium that is surrounded by displays of artifacts that showcase the breadth of the museum's collection.
• A new, grand staircase that links the museum's first and second floors.
• A new welcome center, as well as the addition of six landmark objects to help orient visitors.
• New galleries such as the Jerome and Dorothy Lemelson Hall of Invention.
• A new, state-of-the-art home for the Star-Spangled Banner that protects the flag in an environmentally-controlled chamber.
• Removal of the two-story Foucalt pendulum
